In June 2026, the AIdesignTEX team visited the Textiles Recycling Expo in Brussels — an international event bringing together more than 169 exhibitors and over 5,600 visitors from across the textile circularity value chain.
The Expo provided a valuable overview of the latest developments in textile collection and preparation, AI-supported sorting and material identification, mechanical and chemical recycling, fibre regeneration, digital traceability, quality control and the production of recycled materials.
Beyond discovering innovative technologies, the visit offered an opportunity to discuss some of the sector's most pressing challenges: effectively recycling blended textiles, improving the quality and consistency of secondary raw materials, scaling solutions from pilot projects to industrial applications, and strengthening cooperation across the value chain.
For the AIdesignTEX project, these exchanges were particularly valuable in exploring how artificial intelligence and data-driven solutions can support more efficient sorting, recycling and circular textile production.
Our visit was filled with inspiring meetings and insightful conversations with technology providers, recyclers, researchers and industry representatives. Thank you to everyone we had the pleasure of meeting—we look forward to transforming these new connections and shared ideas into meaningful future collaborations!
