
Sergio Náñez Alonso
Sergio Náñez Alonso holds a Ph.D. in Law and Economics from CEU San Pablo University and specializes in digital currencies, decentralized finance, financial inclusion, taxation, and entrepreneurship. His research is widely recognized, with over 100 publications and numerous citations in Google Scholar, Web of Science, and Scopus.
Sergio Náñez Alonso holds a Ph.D. in Law and Economics, which he obtained from CEU San Pablo University in 2019 with Cum Laude distinction. Previously, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Law in 2010 and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 2011, receiving recognition for the best academic record. In 2012, he completed a Master's degree in Environment and Sustainable Development at the Catholic University of Ávila and the Miguel de Cervantes European University.
Since March 2021, he has been accredited as a professor by ANECA. His research focuses on digital currencies, decentralized finance, financial inclusion, taxation, and entrepreneurship. He has authored over 100 publications, including 41 scientific articles, 14 books, and 38 book chapters. His work has gained significant recognition in the academic community, as reflected in numerous citations: 1,015 in Google Scholar (h-index 16), 294 in Web of Science (h-index 11), and 468 in Scopus (h-index 13).
For his academic contributions, he has received prestigious awards, including the Best Cited Paper from the Society of Open Innovation in 2022 (South Korea) and the Best Paper Award at the Ibero-American Conference on Entrepreneurship in 2021 (Portugal). He has participated in key research projects, including the EU-funded Students Support Towards Entrepreneurial Spirit Development project (funding: €299,240) and as the Principal Investigator of the Finance for All FxT project in Spain (€3,000, 2023-2024). Additionally, he was involved in the AGRO 4 TEC project, which promotes healthy local food products, with funding of €45,999 for 2023-2024.
As a lecturer, he specializes in Tax Law, Political Economy, Public Finance, and Business Management. His teaching has received high praise from students, as evidenced by teaching evaluations: "Very Favorable" from 2012-2016 and "Excellent" from 2016-2020. He has also held administrative roles, serving for over three years as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences at the Catholic University of Ávila, as well as Director of the Master’s in Human Resources Management and Co-Director of the Master’s in Social Economy Management.
His academic activities have an international dimension, as demonstrated by his teaching and training stays at universities in Poland, Italy, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Ireland, and Portugal.
