Two researchers from the Faculty of Material Technologies and Textile Design at Lodz University of Technology (TUL), Iwona Nowak and Katarzyna Pieklak, carried out a long-term visit at the Catholic University of Ávila (UCAV) in Spain within the framework of the AIdesignTEX project.

Their supervisor during the stay was Professor Ricardo Reier, who supported the team from TUL in implementing their research tasks and in developing new approaches to the evaluation and design of textiles in the spirit of sustainability. The visit provided an opportunity for intensive collaboration with Spanish scientists working on similar topics, as well as an exchange of expertise on the application of artificial intelligence in the circular economy.

During the stay, the researchers focused on data collection and the development of an algorithm designed to predict the recyclability potential of textile materials. This work represents an important step toward creating more effective tools to support sustainable design and life-cycle management of textile product.
