Ghent University is an open, pluralistic and socially engaged university. It is more than 200 years old, offers more than 200 programmes (including 69 Eng lish-taught master's programmes) and conducts in-depth research within a wide range of scientific domains.

Locations
In Belgium, Ghent University is located in and around Ghent, Courtrai, Bruges and Ostend. We are also the first European university in Songdo, South Korea.
History
Ghent University was founded in 1817. Over the past 200 years, Ghent University has counted many eminent scientists, ministers and even Nobel laureates among its staff and alumni.
The Centre for Textile Science and Engineering (CTSE) is a leading textile institute within Europe. It combines fundamental and applied industrial-oriented research on all levels of fiber and textile materials, ranging from production, functionalization, and processing up to their applications, always taking into account sustainability. CTSE also includes a technical service lab, that underpins the research infrastructure. CTSE is based within the Department of Materials, Textiles and Chemical Engineering (MaTCh) at Ghent University and combines the strengths of four professors and a total of about 40 researchers and technical staff with expertise in various domains of textile materials.
