The delegation from Łódź University of Technology included Prof. Katarzyna Grabowska, Dean of the Faculty of Material Technologies and Textile Design and Project Leader of AIdesignTEX; Prof. Monika Malinowska-Olszowy, Vice-Dean for Education; and Dr. Anna Bacciarelli-Ulacha, Project Administrator.
During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to explore the activities of the Department of Textile & Clothing Technology, gaining insight into research and education related to textile engineering and apparel technologies. The visit to the department provided a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge, compare approaches, and identify areas of common interest.
What followed was more than a formal meeting — it was an open and engaging exchange of ideas, experiences, and perspectives. The discussions focused on shared challenges and opportunities in the textile and apparel sector, particularly in the context of sustainability, circular economy, and the integration of digital technologies.
Both sides emphasised the importance of aligning research and education with evolving global and European requirements, especially in areas such as textile recycling, sustainable materials, and compliance with environmental regulations.
The meeting also highlighted strong potential for interdisciplinary collaboration, bringing together expertise from engineering, materials science, design, and management. This creates a solid foundation for future joint initiatives, including research projects, academic mobility, and knowledge exchange.
Beyond the discussions, the visit played an important role in building relationships and mutual understanding — key elements for long-term cooperation.
This visit to the University of Moratuwa marks another meaningful step in expanding the global dimension of AIdesignTEX and reinforces the importance of international collaboration in shaping a more sustainable and innovative future for the textile sector.
